Got one of these in like new condition off of eb** the other day for 150 bucks. It turned out to be a 450-512 split. Interestingly enough, it seems to work as well as my other 403-470 radios in the 440-450 range. Is this normal?

The battery type matches my F3061, F33 and F43. Only problem is in a grid down scenerio, I will quickly revert to my F40GTs, since the new radios only use a 6 cell AAA pack. The next thing is to acquire 3 BaoFeng UV5-R II's for the beach trip.

Think I'd be looking at waterproof for that application, unless you're just thinking disposable.

Yup. My F4021T is the same split and it works fine on 440.

Disposable and cheap! We will be on the 16th floor of a condo. It will be a good time for my brother and I to play with some radios. I'm taking my Pro-197 and maybe a portable repeater.
