Ok just put up a 3 legged Windom, cool. Got it up in the air off a mast on top of a chimney box. the legs go to corners of yard. So good times right? I got my Icom 706mkIIG hooked up to a LDG AT200 pro. Turn everything on, and cant hear anything. After much fucking with, I turn off the tuner and pick up everything, turn the turner on, cant hear nothing. WTF ??? Any help would be great. Thanks

Do you have the tuner set for the output where the antenna is connected?

If you've never used a tuner before, read this, if not ignore.

On a manual tuner:
In receive mode, switch inductance (L) settings until the background noise is the loudest.
now, adjust the capacitance (C) settings until the noise is even louder.
This will get you "close" to the setting you need for transmitting.  Of course, you will need to make adjustments, however it takes out a lot of guesswork, especially on the inductance.

Now, your auto tuner functions under the same principals, however it changes inductance and capacitance automatically, but only when transmitting.  So your L/C settings could be way off, even for receiving.  Either initiate a tuning cycle, or - use the "L up" or "L Down" buttons to adjust the tuner to the point where the background noise is loudest.

I'm not sure if the AT-200 Pro has a bypass setting, but if it does, try it.

3-legged Windom?  What are the lengths on each leg?  What balun did you use?

bypass the tuner and plug the antenna feed direct into the radio and see if you can receive anything. DO NOT KEY DOWN while doing this unless your antenna has good SWR on the band you are listening to.

I'm interested in the antenna as a friend, now SK, had something similar back in the 60s. I'm running tuned feeders anyhow but would like to know more about the antenna. I'd like to get some more wire in the air this spring.

Cool, keep us updated.
Have some warm days coming, and, as per poster above you, time to put some more wire out.

OK so sorry I havent had a lot of time to play around with the new antenna. But when I have: I cant get the tuner to match up on 40M or 20M. Tried different power levels and the tuner wont tune it up the SWR shoots thru the roof. Now here is what Iam using: Icom 706 MKIIG, tuner is AT200 Pro II, cable is DX engineering RG8 and all PL259 connections have been continuity tested. The cable run is roughly 60 feet, with a lighting arrestor staked to a ground rod. Now here is a messed up part: I hooked up my old antenna (chameleon zepp) as per website instructions in a NVIS type set up, and it same problem. Any suggestions would be awesome. So the fun continues
