I have a home w/ asphalt shingles. I am in the process of covering/screening in a deck on the rear of the house(300 sq ft). Would a metal roof on the deck adversely affect antenna/radio performance, or would I be safer to use shingles on the deck as well?

I would use metal roofing.I doubt you'll impair radio reception at all.I never had a problem with it.

Depends on how far away the antenna is. A few feet above the roof may affect resonance. 10 feet off to the side, not so much, maybe.

I have a metal roof. Lifetime warranty. Can't go wrong.

I have an A-99 and a J-Pole mounted about 10 feet above the peak. A ground strap is run from the top of the mast, down to the roof, where it is bonded to the metal panels. A whole roof ground plane.

Haven't really noticed anything performance wise. Of course, I don't go on 10M a lot.

How far away are your antennas going to be?  Needs more MS PAINT.

300 square feet is quite a bit of metal.  I'd go with shingles, better safe than sorry.
