With all the DX threads popping up, I thought I would make a thread for DX "spots". Post your latest DX spot in this thread.
Keep it short so we can scroll through quickly and not have to read a bunch of text.
Example:

Callsign   ZL7DX
Freq        14.173
Mode      USB
Split        TX up 5
RST        59 (599 for CW etc)
Comment  Calling USA now

Time and date stamp appears on the post itself so I didn't include those. There used to be quite a "cluster" on VHF packet, but it is almost non-existant now. I had a complete 2m packet station dedicated to it way back when and I miss it. For the non-packet savvy, a cluster is basically a hub. One station is the hub, and all other stations connect to it. When someone sends out a "spot" to the hub, the hub relays the info to every other station connected. Some really old timers call this cheating...oh well. I think it's awesome! I snagged many a rare DX contact back then thanks to the cluster.
What does everyone think?

That definately would have been useful last weekend for the contest. I did nab Azores and Turks and Caicos.

It'd be 50 pages of 10 meter.

Why not use the exisiting DX cluster network? Most all of the nodes accept telnet connections now.
just thinking out loud...

Personally I don't think having a DX spotting thread here is worth the bandwidth. There are much better tools available than a forum I access once or twice a day.

One is www.hamspots.net. What I like about it is that I can filter out modes that I have no interest in. I can also search for that elusive state and find who has the most spots in the last 5 days. Then take that call and do a search for current spots. The downside is that you get ALL the spots in North America. Doesn't do me a lot of good to know that the W. Coast is getting JAs when the prop isn't there to the Deep South. So I also run another spotting service in tandem.

www.ve7cc.net CC User DX Cluster Client Program. What's cool with this is that you can not only filter out spots by continent and entity, you can allow only spots to be shown in individual states. I set mine up with my home state and any other state that borders my home state. Those and only those.

Hamspots for the big picture. VE7CC for the details. It works for me.

I agree with Eric.  I like www.dxsummit.fi.  It is a good one.
