It has been 15 working days since I took my exam and nothing shows yet... Do I need to be worried? If so - should I contact the VE or the VEC or the FCC or all of the above... |

15 working days = 3 weeks. Something ain't quite right. You should have had your paper license/upgrade by now.
It has been 15 working days since I took my exam and nothing shows yet... Do I need to be worried? Don't know what VEC you used but if it was ARRL here's a couple details about the process after the test. - ARRL uses Priority Mail envelopes but the postage is Business Reply First Class. As I understand it the package should be delivered no later than 3 business days. - ARRL/VEC requires teams to report the session no later than the tenth day after the session. No reason for a team to hang on to session materials. Typically the next business day or two and its in the mail. - Once ARRL/VEC gets the package the forms are checked for correct entries and signatures. The results are then keyed into the FCC database. Your call/upgrade should show up the next day. If so - should I contact the VE or the VEC or the FCC or all of the above... Start with the VE team who hosted your session. Find out when the package was mailed. If they waited the whole 10 days then there's part of the problem. However if it was mailed off within the next business day or two then I'd take it to the next level. Next is a phone call to Maria Somma, AB1FM who is the HMFIC of the ARRL/VEC at Newington. Between the two they'll figure out what FUBAR'd and get it straightened out.
It is possible it was lost in the mail. It does happen. The VE team has copies of the CSCEs and there is a procedure in place for lost exams. No extra work on your part. If you used some other VEC I'd still start with the local team backed up with a call to headquarters. |
