Field Day is this weekend; June 23-24. Anybody participating? |
|
A couple buddies and I from our CERT radio club, as well as other drops ins will be operating a 2B station for about the first 12 hours from the city park which will be overrun with the annual event put on by the city every year, Tigard Festival of Balloons. We staff a CERT information booth every year, this will be the first trying field day from the booth. The Balloons are fun to watch and it's a big outreach time for CERT and to share preparedness basics like the 72 hour kit, etc.. with the public.
I'll be on 20M SSB most of the time. |

Everybody I was going to operate with bailed. Which is a bummer, since FD is my favorite contest. If I end up participating I'll just be mobile. You're welcome to come down to Alexandria for the W4HFH field day. We're not contesting dicksWe're very low key, and most members share another hobby of ours... PM me if interested in more details, would love to have you and plenty of voice and cw operating opportunity (we are running 6A this year). I'll be operating with W4HFH. If all goes according to plan, I will have a 100% fully solar powered station. |

W7SKY will be running out of Lake Tye Park in Monroe Washington. Maybe we'll actually connect up this year. We worked K7LED as our first contact last year on 15. You guys must not have been trying hard enough. I'll be mostly manning the 10/15 voice station again this year. |
| club will be setup and looks like i will be on the air more than not due to low signup this year. we will be working K4BW 2a, Va. i wanted to try and work some digital but ran out of time to get everything setup and with the limited operators this year it wouldnt have worked out anyway. |

Working station W7S (wicked Seven sisters), from Valley Camp, North Bend WA. Running 4F (backup EOC).
Setting up the camping area on Friday night, followed by heavy drinking and cooking meat over open flames. Radio ops start Saturday morning and run for 24 hours if the bands hold up. We have a beam for 10-15-20 and 6m. Dipoles & loops for 40, 80 & 160. Just for grins we're sending up a weather balloon with 200' of vertical wire and a bunch of ground radials. Big fun all the way around! |

My brother and I are planning on setting up my IC7000 in a state forest Saturday night running with an Honda eu2000i and probably a 2m mobile radio with a roll up jpole in the tree. Might only have a 10m antenna to hang in a tree for HF though. Not sure if I wanna climb up and take down my G5RV to rehang in the woods.
Will probably try and use RMS express and see what SSB contacts we can make on 10m. Will only have a couple hours to fool around with it though. Not overnight. |

They are the powerhouse club of the west coast. |
| My club and I was on the local news. I'm the operating the radio. I look like a damn hippy. Watch the local news cast. If you worked W4CA 2A Virginia, on 40m and had the deep voiced guy that was me. However it was from being hoarse. |

This Field Day was my first time operating on HF and actually being able to reach someone.
Me and two other buddies set up a hill top station. My PRC-320 with 10 foot whip and their KX-3 and Yaesu 897, both with buddipoles. one was set up as a dipole and the other with as a 18' mast. I made about 6 contacts myself. It was a good feeling able to reach someone on the other end. We didn't have much luck with the 320 with whip or dipole but worked great with the 18' mast. Next time I will try to use the wire antenna. The buddipole is not the quickest or easiest to set up due to all the tiny parts but worked well and did was not bothered by the wind. Working HF for the first time, other operators were patient enough to help and guide me along trying to learn the lingo. It was hard to understand people at times as some spoke real fast. |
