Thank you for posting this!! I was monitoring 20m PSK31 a couple of weeks ago when at the end of a stream on the waterfall I clearly saw '73' just like that.
Until now, I actually thought I was simply seeing things :) Even google searchs didn't turn up anything useful. |

Personally I don't like Video ID anymore. It was great before we had RSID. I used to use it a lot to help people figure out what obscure mode I was calling CQ with. But RSID has largely supplanted Video ID. It is far more efficient, as Video ID takes a long time to transmit. It is also quite sensitive, with the RSID detector working almost as well as the Olivia detector.
If you do use Video ID, please know how to use the various buttons and settings to turn it off once the QSO is started, i.e. only use it for CQ. Same for RSID. Turning them off makes the QSO run much more smoothly i.e. less wasted time on each turn. Yes, it makes it harder for people who are monitoring your QSO to figure it out if they missed your CQ, but they can catch it on your next CQ. |
