I think this is Video ID.  Sure was handy to ID the mode this morning.  Saw it at the beginning of his Call CQ macro.  I've accidentally used this before because of not knowing WTF I was doing, but I may incorporate it in my Call CQ macro when using some unusual modes.

Ok, this is cool! I want to know how to do that!!! ID'ing the mode is the thing I haven't got figured out yet. I like DM780, but I need a seriously a 'date-nite' with it and get it all figured out.

I leave the RSID feature on and have had it notify me of modes but this is much cooler.

Thank you for posting this!!  I was monitoring 20m PSK31 a couple of weeks ago when at the end of a stream on the waterfall I clearly saw '73' just like that.

Until now, I actually thought I was simply seeing things :)  Even google searchs didn't turn up anything useful.

In DM780, enable the Video ID button by checking the box in Program Options––>Modes + IDs.

Press the Video ID button in the TX window to highlight & enable it.

One of the default Closing macros is the 73 Video which is probably what Racsan said he saw on the waterfall.

Personally I don't like Video ID anymore. It was great before we had RSID. I used to use it a lot to help people figure out what obscure mode I was calling CQ with. But RSID has largely supplanted Video ID. It is far more efficient, as Video ID takes a long time to transmit. It is also quite sensitive, with the RSID detector working almost as well as the Olivia detector.

If you do use Video ID, please know how to use the various buttons and settings to turn it off once the QSO is started, i.e. only use it for CQ. Same for RSID. Turning them off makes the QSO run much more smoothly i.e. less wasted time on each turn. Yes, it makes it harder for people who are monitoring your QSO to figure it out if they missed your CQ, but they can catch it on your next CQ.

I think I agree with aa777888-2.  RSID is a lot more polished than Video ID.  They both are useful in IDing an obscure mode on the initial "Call CQ" macro, though.

Here's a screenshot of DM780's SuperBrowser when an RSID CQ is detected.
