Guys,

I am having a problem with my Icom 7000. My S-meter works on 2m/440 but not on any other band.

I have done a reset according to the manual. Anyone have any ideas why it isn't working?

Thanks.

ETA: 2m/440 FM but not on SSB or CW.

Is it all the way up or down. Try turning the gain down.

I have turned the gain knob all the way up and down. Nothing happens.

During receive correct?

Also, there are separate antenna ports, you have an antenna hooked to both, correct?

Have you tried the IC-7000 Yahoo Group?

I don't have a 7000 but I seem to remember something about a control that functioned differently between FM and SSB/CW modes... some combination of squelch, attenuator, and RF gain.  Something else that pops into my head is maybe a button which controls a preamp and an attenuator... preamp one color, attenuator a different color, or off.

I have an Icom dual band mobile that was pretty freaky when I first got it... the squelch control does squelch for the first half of its rotation, then becomes a variable attenuator.  If you turn that "squelch" control all the way closed, you can attenuate even a strong signal down to nothing on the S meter and received audio.

I'm wondering if you don't have something like that going on, that you have an attenuator enabled by mistake.  The 7000 is so automated that it wouldn't surprise me if a control like that might not follow along with mode settings... it almost assuredly would follow along with VFO A/B or memory settings.

The Attenuator is off. I found out what the problem was...... my antenna SUCKED!!

I had a friend park a mile away and we were able to get it to work.

Thanks everyone.
