Is there any APRS software that will also do navigation routing?

Kenwood D710A running TNC mode to a laptop which is connected to android phone with PdaNet for internet. But lets say internet and cell service is down and I am driving cross country. Laptop will have to have maps preloaded.

Not interested in beaconing my location for OpSec reasons, but would like to monitor who is around me and catch any bulletins especially NWS. I know first person that sends me a message will give away my position, but I will not be able to be tracked.

Laptop is serving multiple purposes in BOV Rig Control for HF, Digital coms, Navigation, APRS, Internet, and Email. Go ahead just for GP add in Bluetooth so I can do Digital Voice too.Why not!? Not a one person operation so no fears of me driving and txting LOL

I know I could use the droid phone for navigation but that only works good if you have internet when going long distances. Much easier to glance at a 14 inch screen than the phone.

I believe the AvMap G5 or G6 is the best solution for your requirements.  It's pricey, though.

I liked the idea of the AvMap when it came out years ago but cost justifications are difficult vs functionality. Laptop offers more versitility.

I agree, but the software I've seen is pretty pathetic by modern standards.  UI-View is just miserable, IMO.  Since its development was halted years ago, it is quickly being left behind by the pace of technology.  It appears to be quite a challenge to make it work on Windows 7 (look here).  There's an option for connecting it to Precision Mapping for dynamically generated vector maps using a third party tool, but I lost interest after finally getting it to work with bitmaps.

I haven't tried APRS Point lately.  Last time I tried to get it to work, I failed.  Apparently you don't have to scan maps for it any more, but I don't think you're going to get routing out of it.

Then there's WinAPRS.  Here's a quote from their web site:  "We are working on a very sophistcated map generation program."  That page was last updated 16 years ago.

If you're Linux capable, you can try X-APRS (a port of WinAPRS) or Xastir, but again it's all antiquated stuff.  There just hasn't been any serious development work on APRS that I know of in modern times.

For routing with APRS capability, the AvMap is pretty much the only game in town.

Just a slight update with this project.

Looks like I might pull this off using AGWTracker and AGWPE along with Microsoft MapPoint.

Waiting on some advise on how to set it all up now so I can try it out on the desktop before moving it to the laptop.

In an email exchange with George I will be able to achieve what I am wanting to do.

Running AGWTracker AGWPE and MapPoint be able to see aprs reports and do navigation routing at the same time. Will be able to have access to complete North American maps without an internet connection.
This is one of the more active and most supported pieces of software I have found. AGW has been around for a long time since back when we were first scratch building sound card interfaces cause none were available commercially.
From his statement it appears that APRS stations heard will appear as waypoints similar to the same way they do with AVMAP.

Once this is setup and running then on to tackle the HF side probably with HRD once all the bitching and moaning going on is over about HRD changing to commercial software vs donation software.

Here is one of George's replies:
Its better to use the 32 bit version for Mappoint.

You will have AGWTracker minimized and you will use Mappoint, AGWTracker
will send the stations info to Mappoint.

As a Linux user I can say I was underwhelmed by Xastir.
