Testing for General tonight. Will update if I pass. ![]() Yeah I'm in the 80's and 90's. Opened the ARRL upgrade manual saturday morning and finished it that night. Been doing the online tutorials and test past two days. Not the best way to learn but I have my setup ready to go and I'm tired of sitting here listening. |

You are paying your money, and if you pass general, you get the opportunity to test for extra. It's 50 questions, and might take some rote memorization, but you only have to get 37 right to pass. I can help you out some if you want to hit the books some more and try.Originally Posted By dewme5: Originally Posted By andre3k: Have you tried the online sample tests?Testing for General tonight. Took the Extra test, didn't pass that one though. Will try again in a few weeks. |

Hey I have a question. I got my license in 2008 (got general on my first try) and while I tried extra, I did not do very well (did not study for that part). If I were to go in and take the test to get my Extra, would I have to pass the tech and general portion again as I no longer have a valid csce? |

Your Ham license is good for ten years unless it's been revoked for some reason. |

| I just passed my Tech test about 2 hours ago. Now the confusion really sets in about what HT to get. |

So am I checking correctly?
I created/registered an account at FCC ULS with my social and I'm currently in the License Manager––>My Licenses. "You currently have no licenses associated with your FRN" I'm assuming, having put in my social here and on the paperwork at exam time, that my callsign will automagically appear here in my FRN account (due to the social). Is that correct? Just F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5 right?
I'm not missing a step? I don't have to 'associate' anything? (since I don't have anything FCC related to associate anyway) |

/AG.
Also took the Element 4 exam tonight, bombed it (missed 28.) My original plan was to also study for the Extra while studying for the General, but I was getting too confused and decided to focus on General and study for Extra later. Already looking at an old Swan 500C to start using my new privileges. |

I have the ARRL Extra study guide on order for that very line of thinking. |

Thanks but I mean that you don't need to wait for that ARRL guide |
