I just got this radio last week.  I've noticed on 17 and 20 meters when transmitting the display somewhat "modulates" with my voice.  Everything is grounded, and my IC 7200 never had this problem.

Is this common?

Thanks in advance.

What power setting?

You are prolly reaching the limit of your 12 vdc supply.

Try reducing power to diagnose.

I only happens when I have a head set plugged into the faceplate.

Thanks

That leads me to believe the headset cable is acting like an antenna and introducing some RF into the faceplate of the rig. Have you tried putting a ferrite bead around the cable where it enters the faceplate? Maybe some stray RF coming back into the shack on those bands?

It was weird.  I started using my old MFJ headset yesterday, and noticed on cuba contact today that my display was bugging out.  I changed a jumper from the radio to the tuner I thought would be suspect, reduced the power, and nothing.  I pulled the head set out of the faceplate and that was it.

It never it did this on my 7200, and wonder if my head set might have an open in the insulation somewhere.  I did catch it on my Dillon a few times while multi-tasking.  As long as it's not the radio.  Phew!!
