So does anyone have any good stories about Billy the badass on the radio? I know that most hams are good to go but I'm sure there are some stories.
My first HF experience my uncle was showing me around the bands. Somewhere in the 80m band we came across a group of guys chatting it up (some of the content wasn't kid friendly that’s why I wanted to stay there). This was before I had my ticket so my uncle keyed up and introduced himself, someone asked what he was up to and he replied saying that he was showing my [nephew] ham radio. These guys started to run us off like we just slept with their sister. Finally Danny was able to tell them that I'm a grown man home on Christmas leave. Then they settled down and we listen to them carry on. I know this isn’t much of a tuff guy story but I know there has to be some microphone warriors out there, just wanted to hear your stories. |

Some dumb ass Canadian, a guy in new york, and 87 of their friends dividing by zero. Then all the dumb shit hams that record the guy, start citing to this asshole part 97, telling them they are going to turn them in. 30 years this shit has been going on, and it will stay that way until someone gets a Darwin award.
This goes back about 30 years, so that equates to about 700 tubes blown on that idiots amplifier. My understanding it started as a frequency dispute in the 70's, the guy will key down on the amplifier, until the tubes blow, replace them and keep on going. Never go full retard. Oh and if you cannot tune in, just Google the frequency |
A couple google searches turned up THIS. After reading just a little bit of it, I cant wait to tune in

just wanted to hear your stories. in every walk of life, there are attention whores who masquerade as assholes. the more controversial they are, the more attention they think they will get. it's the same with amateur radio. personally i have never spent more than a few seconds listening to the retards. so my advice is to just spin the dial. there is a huge swath of the electromagnetic spectrum available to amateur radio operators. and a great majority of that spectrum is filled with good, honest, geeky folks. ar-jedi |

Is K1MAN on there? He used to be on 14.275. The FCC revoked his license many years ago but he just keeps on talking! Then you have the canadian idiot who thinks everything is a Catholic conspiracy. Actually the FCC never did pull his license, they did however decide to not renew it. You can find the license in the ULS, and the pending application for the renewal. The sad thing is they were holding the renewal due to non payment of forfeiture of assets the FCC slapped on him for intentional QRM and general asshattery. The license is active still! My understanding is since there is pending litigation, and the fact that he sent a renewal form in before the expiration they have to keep his license active until they either approve or deny the application. There have been over 1,000 complaints and letters filed to the FCC by other hams telling them he needs to kick rocks. Why they let people do this stuff and not pull their damn license is beyond me. I stay clear of the frequencies and enjoy my time on the air, I do not have time to listen to a bunch of grown ass men act like some teens on daddy's CB. Baxter's License was "offlined for Enforcement Bureau action.". His license expired on October 17, 2005. Baxter's license remains in limbo. His application for renewal has not been granted, and his application has been set-aside. However, he may continue to operate until the FCC acts on his license renewal application. We emphasize again, Baxter is legally allowed to operate on the amateur bands, and he is legally allowed to operate a bulletin station.

Yeah... I remember "Radio Canada". lol.. Didn't know they moved to 14.313. Used to be 14.185 I think.....he used to make a crack that .185 drew in the "chicken banders" that used 27.185 (ch19).
Listening to the fun on 14.313 right now. Grundig at work doesn't pick up too well, but sounds like either the propagation gods are favoring us, or they're running power. |

Ever heard of the "possum net"? Here's some serious stupid from a little while back: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_22/642222_What_the_heck___Say_it_ain_t_so___.html |
Step away from from the radio for 15 years or so & it all goes in the shitter. Sad thing is our local repeater has it's share or flagrant assholes too.
