I have a Yaesu vx7 that I've added to my BOB along w/ its AA battery insert, car charger, and extra battery.  In the event of an extended "engagement" where the AA's are not available and the extra battery is extinguished, how might I power my radio.  Is there a direct to car battery wiring option?

Just get a battery eliminator and plug into the cig lighter.  Or keep a bunch of rechargables with a solar charger.

Yes.  You can use a Yaesu EDC-6 with Andersen Powerpoles attached and a cable with a set of battery clamps on one end and Powerpoles on the other end.  See this post, and in the photos at the bottom substitute the battery clamp cable for the 8xAA battery pack.  I fabricated a set similar to what's in the photos and it works very well.

ETA to the OP
just keep putting Andersen powerpoles on everything you own, and then you will never run out of powering options...

You can go to Radio shack and buy the yellow tip DC plug, and you can make your own power cord, and like others have said with power poles you will never run out of options.

Hi, my name is 6530, and I'm a Powerpole addict.
