I just got the CD 'Rhythm of the code' by Phil Kawa for $10 off of eBay.
I'd bet that a month of having that play 24/4 and I ought to be GTG because it strikes me that if I can read it, I can send it. We'll see |

Ok. Just bought it on Amazon. Like you said, can't hurt.
I'll try listening it while going to sleep at nights. Funny as it sounds, that helped me learn a huge number of lines for a lead role in a play. ETA: The music and singing are reminiscent of Napoleon Dynamite's brother Kip singing to Lafawnduh. Better production values but has a charming "Casio keyboard, Bossa Nova beat at high tempo" vibe. I can't take a steady diet of it, but actually learned a couple more letters on the drive home. If you listen to nothing but this for a month, two things will happen: 1- You will sit in the corner, holding your knees, rocking back and forth, and thinking of your happy place. 2- You will recognize the letters and numbers in Morse code. A buddy sent me an Amazon gift card for my birthday and have been trying to decide what to get with it.
I decided after Hamvention in '09 to learn code having heard it all over the place walking around the place. So, after seeing this thread, I decided to check it out... OMG!!! That'd drive you insane!
BUT, I have had trouble with "hearing" the letters instead of the dits and dahs, and I think this might help. So I bought it. And forgot to use the gift card number so it went on my CC anyway.

Thing that will get you on the road to learning code is to quit trying to learn the individual dits and dahs for the individual letter. Learn the musical NOTE of the letter.
Once you get above 12 wpm you won't be able to "That was dah dit dit dit so it must be B". By then you've missed the next two letters. I'm a firm believer in learning code at 12 to 14 wpm so you can learn the note and not get in the habit of counting dits. As for 'Rhythm of the code' it drove me nuts. Couldn't listen all the way through. Whatever works for you though. There are multiple paths to this destination. |

I need to eat some crow here. The songs are silly, but work. After just a few days, the sounds start to stick. My 4 year old son likes to listen, too. ...snip Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Nothing about this makes your first post inaccurate. They could easily drive one to insanity... you'll have "met the challenge of the Rythm of the Code" while bouncing off the walls but you'll still be bouncing off the walls. You might even be bouncing TO the Rythm of the Code. I do think they have helped me a bit. |
