I'm in the process of building a house and, like any proper Ham, getting coax to the outside is on the top of my list. I was thinking about running it down to the basement and out via conduit. However, that route would add too much coax, and consequently a lot of loss. I'd like to run it out of the attic and through a gable vent. However, there is no gable over the back of the house, so I was thinking of running it through the soffit. Anyone ever done something like this? I could just punch a hole in the vent, but I'd like something a little more substantial. |

Looked into using a 'weatherhead'? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weatherhead You can use them on the side of the house too, without piercing the roof.* *I'm not being a jerk, I just have no idea whether you're familiar with the term or item. |
