Has anyone here ever built a multi-band hex beam?  I'm thinking about building one and wondered if anyone had any insight into them.  I just can't see paying 600+ for one of these.  It looks like a fun project to build.  Homebrew Hexbeam

I've been toying with the idea of bulding a broadband Hexbeam (described here)

I have no experience with them at all, but I'm interested.  I was thinking about a vertical for higher frequencies, but your post brought the hex beam to my attention.  I didn't know they could still do a good job even at a low height so that may be the answer for me.

If you read the article, they say build a single band one first to get some experience, before you build a multi-band one.  Evidently, you have to tweak the lengths of the wires on all bands to get it right.  There's an article on the net about a guy who sells these things (they're 600 bucks!!!), and he toyed with the lengths of the wires, and positioning for years before he got it right.
