first off, I know there will be people who DON'T want to be on here... do we have / should we have a list of the members on the board not a published list tacked at the top of the page but, one internal to us and only available to whoever is on the list.... this would help us keep track of who is who, where they live and, God forbid if we get a real disaster, who we need to be trying to contact... thoughts?

OK, HarryStone has been nominated and seconded. Does Harry have it by acclamation? All ayes?
Any nays? Hearing none... (BAM!) HarryStone, you are now, by unanimous acclamation appointed as Keeper of the Arfcom Ham List. Congratulations! (THAT, my fellow Arfcommers, is how you slam dunk your friends into office of your choosing.) |

You are correct. Net could very well be down and it would be difficult to look up on QRZ.
Post a list of info each participant should email in to you. I'll email my grid square to you in a sec. I suggest First name Call Sign (Optional, license class) Arfcom user name City/State Grid Square Anything else? |
|
Yep, what AFM said, plus capabilities would be nice.
I'm thinking the best format for this would be a plain old text file. Not as nice to play with and format as something like Word or Excel, but I think using the simplest file type possible means it wouldn't require anything on the user's end but a web browser or text editor. I'll start putting the file together with what info I have already. It'll go in a password protected directory on my site, I'll reply individually to the emails with the user/pass info. |

Call sign, first name, user name, licence class, city/state and grid square - full address isn't needed and could be looked up in qrz I think a notes section where we can add in capabilities also would be a good idea - HF/VHF/UHF/SATCOM/DIGITAL/CW..... etc almost a non-public version of the ham radio forum roster - but one that we can look at by area and see who may or may not need a hand.... |
|
Quoted: All the info I've received is in the file. If you emailed me, you should be getting a reply shortly with a link to the file and user/pass info. If you find an error in the file, don't hesitate to let me know and I'll get it corrected. looks great thanks again! hopefully this'll keep us all in touch

AFM, I got your latest addition. And yeah, email and phone isn't really necessary but if people want to hook up by "fragile" means for planning, it wouldn't hurt. Short of anatomical bragging, I'll put whatever someone wants in the file. ![]() But also, if Arfcom hams are outside of an affected area, they could look up call signs via QRZ, find email addresses, coordinate with others that way, too. |

If we had a private website, the way to do it would be as a wiki. Each person shares as much or little as they are comfortable with, and can update it themselves as needed.
The same could be done in the "extra" forum Quoted:
Oh and i Guess i need to add under Capabilities EMCOMM, Oh and that is a green box for all of those Orange fan boys! ![]() Yes, needs a running total of orange v green boxes. |

I'll try to put something together today. edit - well that was simple enough. The wiki is there in the same path as the contacts file, if anyone wants to use it. It will allow you to edit your own entry so I'm all for it.

I saved it in my browser so not sure if it logged in our not

|
Quoted: Yeah it's under the same protected directory, so the same password will work. If your browser has the password cached you won't need to enter it. damn that's perfect..... could you also throw in links to our wiki pages in the master document? that way we can look through the document then click for more info |
|
If you didn't register you won't show as logged in. Anyone can create a page, even without registering. I didn't bother to force registration since it's all behind the password anyway. Your page is there, if you search for it, it shows up in search or you can hit the recent changes link on the left sidebar and it will show in the changes list.
I embedded that photo too. I'll start a list of all pages on the front page, so you don't have to search for them and it will all be in one place. |
