I'm now polluting the spectrum in the CW band.
I'm running a Kent 2 paddle iambic key. Tried an MFJ 407D keyer. When plugged into the TS-2000 the rig emits a constant sidetone and PTT is sketchy. Tried a few rig adjustments and no go. Only one last thing to try and the keyer is going up for sale. The TS-2K internal keyer blows chunks too. But at least I can get on the air with it. So. What are you guys running for keys and keyers? What rig do you have it interfaced with? I'm looking real hard at the microHam DigiKeyer II. It will integrate rig control, the external sound card interface box, and has the top shelf K1EL keyer chip. Any other options? |
Most of the modern radios have built-in keyers. All you need to add is the paddle. I use a MFJ-422 and MFJ-490x with my older radios.(TS-430S and IC-251A) that don't have built-in keyers. I haven't run cw on the IC-703+ and IC-7000 yet. Excuse for that: lazy, had keyers on the other radios so when I want to run cw I use those.  |
