Goshen Amateur Radio Club has discussed using facebook as a way to keep in touch with each other and to post announcements and activities we may be doing. After several months of talk, at the meeting tuesday evening I was given the job of setting up the page. We will be posting meetings, contests, programs, hamfests, and events we or other hams may be doing, such as some of the portable operations that I and others have done. I have posted some of my Intelligent Donkey's We do hope to have more pictures online soon. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Goshen-Amateur-Radio-Club/159190310803041 |

Just do what you can to keep active on it. Keep posting news, tips, and pictures.
Also, maybe some info to non-hams on how to get involved if they wish. Get your name out there, go and "Like" other pages and people who are on those pages will have their interest piqued and check out your page. Does your club have a logo? It might look a little cooler than an antennae for the profile picture. |

Quoted: We are planning to start classes for Tech and General in April. We plan to post that information as soon as the dates are firm. Still have to make sure we can get the room we want to meet in on the schedule. Our 140 ft tower was destroyed by a tornado last June. We will be putting more pictures up of the new 100 foot tower that replaced it. Problem is that I don't have the pictures because I was working on the tower and not taking pictures. our ham club has been having issues with our website, person hosting it wont let any active members change things to keep it updated, he moved away yadda yadda pretty much the standard problem. there are 3 of us in the club who are mid 20's-mid 30's. the rest are all old, one of the old people said "couldn't we make one of those facebook things to solve all these problems and use that instead?" it was quickly snubbed before I could say anything. I may use you guys as an example in an upcoming meeting as to how this can actually work. congrats on moving your club into the 21st century

And if you have something that we may be interested make a post. So far we have people "liking" it from early 20's to over 80 years old. We do have another web page but that has no way for anyone but the webmaster to add events or comments. This is in addition to the regular page. We have been discussing ways to keep in better contact. This or a Yahoo group were both mentioned. |

My club is also on facebook and some others as well. No idea who is in charge of keeping our updated but we are on there to kind of shocked when I found out as our club is older and didn't think they would get into the whole facebook scene. Your page seems good and up to date with events and information.

Your page seems good and up to date with events and information. OZRC On Facebook it was some of the older members who were most interested in it. They use facebook to keep in touch with grandchildren who aren't close to them and have learned to use it. Only a small portion of our 80+ members have "liked" it yet. I do know we will have more. |
