| Can anyone fill me in on the current wait time between test and your call sign showing up in ULS? I plan on taking my test on March 19. Just trying to decide if I should pack up the radio for a roadtrip that following week. |

When I took the test in December, it was 12 working days before it showed up on the ULS website. Not sure if they are still way behind, but figure on the full ten working days. You can always keep checking starting at the end of the first five days, of course.
I'll be taking my General test on the 19th, so I wish you good luck on your test. Wayde |

I took my tech test on a Saturday in Oct and I was in the database on the afternoon of that Monday. Super quick!!! I just upgraded to general yesterday and I'll post when it gets in the database.
It really depends on how the VEs at your testing location send in the paperwork. If they snail mail it in, then you'll probably be out of luck. if they do it electronically it can be pretty quick. Good luck!!! |

Just trying to decide if I should pack up the radio for a roadtrip that following week. this is highly dependent on how your local VE's handle your paperwork. electronic submission to the FCC database can result in getting your call sign in 1-2 business days. lax attention to getting the paperwork in, using snail mail, etc can result in a 2 calendar week wait. ar-jedi |
| Oh, nothing wrong with bringing the radio. If you're in the database you can listen and talk to your heart's content. If you're not in the database, you can still listen all you want, and its still a "tool in the bag" if you have an emergency along the way and you can't get cell phone reception and need to call out for help. |
| I am planning on taking through an ARRL VEC. Is it dependent on that certain group hosting the test on how they submit the information? I found an e-mail contact address so I am going to e-mail them and see how they file. I was just trying to get an idea. Thanks for all the replies. |

They highly suggest and pressure their VE's to file electronically. Nearly every new ham we test has their callsign on Monday afternoon after a Saturday test. The coordinator then emails or calls the individual with their callsign as soon as it is posted. |

I sent him an e-mail so we shall see. EDIT: The e-mail got returned as undeliverable so I will try a phone call. |

Go figure I was bragging about getting in the database at the end of the first business day after passing my tech test yet two business days after taking my general test my upgrade hasn't shown yet. Edit - general upgrade in database on Tuesday March 15th. Passed test on Saturday March 5th. |
