WQ3C here.
I run a Ten-Tec Triton IV (I have the matching mic, power supply / speaker, ammeter, and antenna tuner), and a Yaesu FT-221 at the QTH. 47 AH of backup power, primary power is an Astron RS-20. The Ten-Tec feeds a 20M folded dipole, I can tune up anything between 80M and 10M with it. The Yaesu drives a vertical dipole (I have plans for an antenna switch to switch to horizontal for SSB/CW). I primarily work SSB on HF, I've been wanting to get into PSK but there's not really an easy way to rig up my venerable Ten-Tec. |
| Welcome to the Ham forum! Alot of the interfaces out there can be wired into the mic jack. Rig control is not necessary to use digi-modes. All you need is audio in/out and a PTT line. The computer serial port or paralell port can supply required PTT signal in most cases. |

The rig even has an RCA-jack style external PTT that I could use. |

With a USB headset, I ran less of a risk of accidentally tx-ing computer sounds. works pretty well in a pinch. |
