As some of you know, while my radio gathers dust it also acts as a WINMOR Radio Mail Server station as part of the Winlink Global HF Email Network (http://www.winlink.org)

WINMOR is the protocol and RMS Express is the client software that allows access to the network without a fancy, $1500 Pactor modem.

As an RMS operator I generally have ignored the client side, but an RMS can turn into a client pretty quick. So I recently got around to installing the latest version of RMS Express, 1.0.7.1. All I can say is "Wow!" The email management functions are still rather primitive, but the radio side is awesome. You can download RMS Express from the Winlink web siite. Make sure you read the help file cover to cover after installation and before you start configuring and using it. Also make sure you follow directions in there to install the propagation prediction program.

Once you get it all set up and have it controlling your radio, selecting an RMS station and sending email is done in just a few clicks of the mouse. With the help of the prop. prediction stuff you generally get a connection pretty quick by following its guidance. Very cool for SHTF, like this evening's major Comcast train wreck (major DNS outage in the Northeast). It's what got me thinking it was about time to post a WINMOR update.

Better links for you all...go here to find the full install download, help file (read this before you download) and other resources:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WINMOR/

The help file is in .chm format. Just double click on it. If you don't get good results you are probably running Vista or Win7. Right click the file, select properties, the select "unblock".
