I know it's not much, but I've never used, owned and rarely seen a HAM radio. Studied and passed Tech. I know it's nothing special, I know there are tons of other ops already but it felt good to pass.
A friend of mine has a spare radio I can play with until I can get my own (hopefully my Christmas present to myself from myself) Have my Gen test scheduled for a next month. Got to see a demo of a few radios, APRS and Echolink. Small accomplishment I know, but it felt good to pass. Hope it feels good to pass Gen soon, I'll be studying. |

Be advised, there are a lot of questions on the general that were on the tech exam. If you go to one of the sites where they have the practice tests, you'll see what I mean. I haven't looked at the tech test since the change, but some of those questions were word for word the same.
Oh, and congrats. |

The Tech test prior to 1987 was the exact same test as the General, but without the 13 WPM code. Today's Tech test is somewhere between the old Novice and the General. I don't think the General test has changed a whole lot so there would be some common ground. Congrats to the OP! It IS a big deal, and welcome to the hobby! |
