Came across this special event last night. I could not break into the pileup from Florida, but could hear him working a number of east coast states. Would have been really neat to make contact yesterday on VJ Day. QRZ has more information about the event and a copy of the QSL card.
They are on the air later today. Good luck and 73. N7C Special Event Call N7C - Navajo Code Talkers PO Box 3611 Window Rock, Arizona 86515, USA Lookups: 1210 BiographyDetailLogbook 66 . I'd like a QSL card, but don't have any to send to them. Would they send me one anyway? Use this program and print your own if you aren't using many. I'm using it for special event cards when I don't know how many I will need. Just print them as you need them. http://qslmaker.mi-nts.org/ Edit to include a copy of the card I designed for our Sept VHF QSO party trip to Drummond Island, MI
ya don't get the real thing unless you contact us between Sept 10 and Sept 13 |

N7C is on 14.263 mhz today. I've tried to get through the pileup, so far no luck. I even cranked up the amp. No dice. I'm sure I can be heard, just not through all of the others. Or perhaps I'm not being pushy enough and transmitting over others. I hate to do that.
But I'm getting N7C 57 to 59 here. |

Saw this thread this morning and it motivated me to get my HF fan dipole back up that came down in the ice storm 2 years ago. Got elements for 40m and 20m cut, climbed the tower, attached new elements to the balun, ends tied out, etc, but no luck. Eye bolts on the balun were just too corroded to make contact despite my efforts to clean them up when I was on the tower. Apparently the antenna inverse temperature law was in effect, as it was very, very hot up there today.
Guess I'll pull the balun down and cut apart the top cap and see if I can salvage it by replacing the eye bolts. Unless I can figure out that electrolytic rust removal process and if that works maybe then even electroplate the bolts. |

In a rare moment of clarifty and propagation, I managed to make contact with N7C a few minutes ago. Got a 5-8 on my signal and confirmation just before they faded out. Sometimes it better to be lucky than good. This is starting to be a fun hobby! 73 Good for you, BJDFL53 !

Thanks, BigDaddy...This has to be one of the most practical and useful websites for new ham operators. I have learned so much here and this was my primary source of information for passing my Tech and General. Cheers, Thanks & 73's to all. |
