| Anyone have one of these, what are your thoughts on this radio? Thinking of pairing it with a Larsen NMO 2/70 |
|
I just got one at Hamvention to install in my Jeep. I will hopefully have it installed tommorrow.
I tested it for about 15 min last night connected to an Arrow J-pole base setup. Didnt even read the instuctions fully yet and found it easy to navigate. However i am use to Yaesu menus. The stereo quality is really neat. FYI - The Uniden Bearcat speakers ordered through Walmart for 12-13 bucks are a heck of a deal. I will keep you updated..... |

I have both the FT-2800M and smaller FT-1802M, which were updated by Yaesu to the newer (and very similar in size, features) FT-2900R and FT-1900R.
The 15-20 watts difference is meaningless. These four radios have almost identical features (but for power). The older 1802, newer 1900 are quite a bit smaller, in length, width, and depth, taking up about 60% of the volume of their big brothers, the 2800 and 2900. Smaller is certainly easier to mount. |

I have one in my CJ-5, and it is perfect. The magnet mount remote head I just stick to the metal dash, and when I park I stick it under/behind the dash and nobody knows it is there. Do you use an external mic with it? Yes. I tried using the built in mic on the control head, but it sits too far away for use in an open jeep. |

Yep saw that I will probably pick one up from them |
