Ok dumb question - but where can one get an extra (or several) mic clip holders?  I got one with my mobile unit that I installed in my car, but having difficulty trying to track one down to order as an extra for my desk.

I want to attach it to the side of the little shelf I just got so I can keep my mic within easy reach but keep it from getting slammed around the desk:

And if anybody cares, those little shelves are pretty useful for radios

 $10-$11 at Home Depot:

Nice thing is that they stack too - using little dowels at the top to interlock with the next unit, so if you need more shelves, it's easy to add onto.  This is the 24" wide one, but they also have one that is 36" wide for those of you with 27 radios

You'll notice I have room now for the HF rig in the future

I use one of those shelve units in my room for stacking my PS3 and cable tv system.  For the mic holders did you check e-bay because I am thinking you may pay more for them through an actual radio dealer.  I may have one laying around my house here somewhere.......

Haven't checked eBay yet - figured I could find some on HRO or Universal-Radio but not having any luck finding exactly the Yaesu piece I want.  Guess I'll poke around eBay.  Went back to HD and got one of the 36" shelves to make a tiered shelf now - gives me some more space to hide a keyboard for my security camera system under there.  I also picked up some PVC and endcaps to make some rugged antenna cases for my different antennas in the vehicle - figured they'll be safe from being bent/crushed in there vs. the little plastic bags they came in

Id wager to guess even Radio Shack should have them in their CB area.

Was wondering if I should bother going by the RS near me - it seems like they _should_ have them, but then every time I do bother to go into RS, I leave disappointed.

Well I spoke too soon - $1.50 item... $12.32 is the cheapest shipping option they offer

Guess I'll be looking out for one locally, I can't see paying that insane shipping fee.  Why places won't just drop small stuff in a padded envelope and charge $3 for USPS is beyond me.

I just use these:

They can be had at most stores including Lowe's and Target.  You can get name-brand replacements online (such as this one from Icom), but you're looking at $7 plus shipping each.

How's that Samlex for ya?  It looks like it might fit the bill for me, as I'm currently running a 4 amp CB power supply

Works very well.  The meters aren't necessary, but kind of cool.  And the price difference from HRO was only 10 or 20 bucks if I recall.

THANK YOU

so much for posting the link to the shelf.  Been looking for something like that for I don't know how long, and that is perfect.  I'd even been looking for something with that finish.

Thanks!

No problem - glad you like it.  I thought it was perfect for my needs as well.  The 36" I added yesterday makes it a bit more interesting and keeps my mini keyboard hidden under there.  A crappy cell pic will have to suffice:

Looks great.  I stopped by Lowes on the way home to check it out.  Unfortunately it's a little too short to fit over the tuner and power supply I want to buy.  Back to the drawing board.  I think I'm just going to have to build what I want.

Looking at most of the measurements of various HF rigs and tuners, it seems like most would fit - or at least what I'm looking at for my setup.... what are you looking at getting?  The gaps between each shelf are 5 1/8".  If it's only off by 1/4" or something, you could always screw in some of the little rubber feet at the bottom to give the bottom shelf a bit more space
I had to do that when I miscalculated the wood enclosure I built around my 28" LCD on my primary computer system.  Oopsie.  But the little feet added about 3/8" extra clearance which was perfect.  And now it doesn't mar up the desk either.

Astron power supply, Palstar tuner.  The power supply would probably go, it's just over 5" but the tuner is 6 1/2" high.

ps - my radio is 6" high with the feet up, I'd like to put it under one maybe too but I haven't decided yet.  I'll probably change how I want to set it up 6 times before I'm done anyway
