I just got a vx-150 off egay the other day. I'd like to program it, but have no data cable. is it possible to do it from the buttons? i don't have a license yet, but i want to listen in while i study up.

and how do you wipe the pre-programmed memory channels?

VX-150 is an amateur product and as such is completely keyboard controllable.  It's possibly locked into a "memory channel only" mode, which you would need the correct keypad sequence to get out of.

You'll need an owners manual to figure out how to operate the radio.

Good choice. Probably one of the easier HTs to program, tough, and with the FNB-83 battery pack it runs forever. I use mine all the time and did all the programming from the keypad. You can just over write the memories if they are a problem.
