Just got my WKUVS300 WORKMAN DUAL BAND BASE 8.3dB/11.7dB 146/440  antenna and really excited to put it up.  Only thing is the white plastic sticks out like a sore thumb with the green tree background of my home.  Would a couple of coats of non-metallic paint be ok to apply?

Paint won't affect it's performance...unless you use "hillbilly chrome".

Paint it then take more pics and post them, you won't affect the performance of the antenna.

What color would be good for sky?  (Grey? Blue?) The bottom half with be a brown/green combo to match the tree.  But it extends well above the tree line.

Against sky, use light gray, not blue.

Against trees/foilage, use black, not green or brown.

Oh, just saw the A&M thing.

Sorry, I should have typed slower.

My Comet 250bx is up against the backside of my house.  Painted it flat black.  Blends right into the brick.  As indicated, paint doesn't effect RF.

Ok, one more dumb question.  My antenna has a tunable section at the bottom.  Basically I can adjust the height of a metal donut that has three 12" metal rods coming out at 90 degrees from the main antenna.  This donut slides up and down on a 6-8" section of metal pipe where as the rest of the antenna is fiberglass.

Painting this section PRIOR to tuning would a be a bad idea right?  Once the paint is on the contact between the donut and the pipe will only be good at one point correct?

I don't think it would matter because inductors work by electromagnetism, but don't listen to me...maybe someone will chime in who knows the answer

Well, got the antenna up and running.  Need a more powerful unit now, 5 watts will only reach out so far.

I could IM you, but - What VHF and UHF channels are you running?  I picked up a ft 8500 for cheap that I plan on using mobile - I get the car antenna Tues, I could try hitting you from N Dallas....
