I would like to know when my grandfather got his license and need a database that goes back to the beginning of HAM radio in the US.

My teenage son recently got his HAM and now has been assigned his great grandfathers call sign and would like to know the year my grandfather was issued the call sign. I think it was back before the Great Depression.

I was thinking about this. I was hoping to see the exact day mine was issued years ago. I ran across something like your wanting. It had 20 -50's  data if I remember correctly. I think I got it off eham or maybe ARRL website. Sorry I didn't bookmark it. It wasn't all inclusive but it had a lot of names in it.

Look on ebay for some old ham call books.

Contact the ARRL. They'll know.

I'm not sure how far they go back but vanityhq.com might list it. I've been having a hard time getting it to work lately for some reason, though. I had the chance to meet a gentleman this weekend who's been licensed since 1935. He's 95 and came out to join us for Field Day.

They go back to 1981. Someplace I saw but can now not find a database that went back to the 30's when my grandfather got his call sign and kept it into his 90s. Now my son has his call sign to carry on the legacy and I'm just looking to get the exact date my grandfather was issued it. I've sen the database, but can not find it now.
