Congrats!! That stuff is way over my head. I've resigned myself to just having a general ticket. I'll likely never upgrade....but I am impressed by people who know the material well enough to pass the test.

Congrats bigdaddy.

pc, don't give up. The hardest part for me was polar coordinates but I worked my way through it. It can be done.

They asked me what a certain chart was called, gave me four choices.  I knew it was a Smith chart.

I don't know how to use it, they didn't ask me that, but I know what it looks like.

I only studied for the Extra a few days.  It was suggested I take it for "the experience."  I barely passed the Extra just 38/50.

But 45/50 is excellent!

I wish, but I think I'd have a better chance winning the lottery.

That was some of the easiest parts for me. In a former life I was a electricity/algebra/trig teacher so that part of it came pretty easy to me with a little brush up.

Now I need to get to work buying radios and getting a station set up.

Cheater. I was a communications Electronics Technician in the Navy. I was surprised at how little I'd retained. Well, I guess it was still in there, it just took some digging out.

For radios I couldn't be happier with my FT-8800s and wish I had more. I just dumped my IC-718 for the IC-7000 and it's been a great upgrade.

I'm looking at a IC-746 or 756 Pro for home and FT-8900 for mobile.
