I would like to put up a couple digital wall clocks in the shack here.  I would prefer that they be large and easy to read.  Something along the lines of the red digital clocks you see in a lot of Network Operation Centers.  If at all possible I would like to run them on 12v.  Anyone have any suggestions?

I'd like to do the same.  I found some nice ones, but they're crazy expensive.

That's exactly what I was looking for.  What is the ballpark price?

In my experience anything with a GSA pricing schedule  is wicked expensive.

Upper hundreds into thousands, if I remember correctly.  Just stupid for what it is.

I found these too.  Still too expensive for a digital clock.

That is a little better.  I like that it runs on 9v.

This kit is $70, you could gang a few together for multiple time zones and stay at a few hundred bucks.

Man I wanted one of those until I saw that they were 500 plus.  Holy dog shit bat man.  What is up with those prices in todays cheap electronic age?

Economy of scale and American labor.  The reason why you can buy a digital clock at wally world for $15 is because they make 8 million of them a year, in China.

It still makes for some crazy sticker shock.

Yeah, I just called the sales department.  With 5 time zones and 1.8" digits the clock would run $982!  That's a ridiculous amount of money but I somehow find myself trying to justify it in my head.

Hell just build one.  It'll still be expensive but not $1000.

9 of those $70 clock kits is under $650.

Yeah, I wonder if the kits can be found for less.

Hrmmm, these are only 1.6" deep and $84 a piece.  I can swing buying one of those ever now and then.

I'm having much more luck finding decent clocks today.  I spoke with customer service at this place and they say the clock will display 24 hour time format and they run $79 a piece if you order 3 or more.

The only downside is that these are 120V.  I'm guessing they draw very little though.

ETA: Never mind.  I first spoke with them on the phone and was told it would.  Now their webchat gal is saying no.

Still not cheap, but it will do 24 hour format.
