| I've had this unit for several years and would like to hook up a base station antenna to it. After a search on the net I couldn't find a good recommendation on a simple/cheap base station antenna. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm also going to need a 13.8v 10a power supply. |

If you want to buy an antenna, Arrow makes some good, inexpensive options. |

I use a Ringo Ranger AR-2.
Works well and was pretty inexpensive. http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/1086?page=2 |

I have this stainless J-pole:
http://www.b-squareengineering.com/jpole.htm and am quite pleased with it. Here are some copper tubing J-poles from Jamepole.com https://www.jamespole.com/ These are like the various homebrew copper tubing J-poles you will find on the net. For the price, you can't afford to buy the tubing. One caution, before installation of any copper J-pole you need to clean it up well (steel wool, brasso) degrease it, and spray it with clear lacquer or clear Krylon. Put on several good coats, catching all the nooks and crannies. J-poles were popular for 6 meters (back before it disappeared ) and are still popular for FM broadcast band.
ETA J-poles don't care if they are grounded or have a ground plane. |
