Ok, I just bought the VX-5 from a friend. He gave me the RT Systems software but it's old (2002) and only 3.5" floppy. The disk must be bad because the few machines I have that have the 3.5" drive won't read it. I'm using VX-5 Commander which works well enough but there are some definite quirks. I've spoken with the developer and he says he can't really do much since he's never owned a VX-5. So who knows what the fate of it is. I'd really like to keep running the FTB software but Bob doesn't seem to have anything for the VX-5. I called RT and I can send the old floppy back with $10 and they'll send me a good copy of the version I have or I can spend $25 and download the latest. So has anyone used the latest RT software and if so what are your thoughts? Is it worth it or should I stick with the free Commander? Or do I get real bold and write my own program? |

I suppose. I'm sure I'll get over the quirks. I guess I'm used to the interface with the FTB software. Maybe I'll work on my own for the fun of it. Now here's a question for you...how the hell do you reset the battery monitor? It's on p36 of the manual and I've done it once but can't do it again. When you press and hold F/W it wants to write to a memory location. It doesn't do a blasted thing when I press 6 to reset it. I talked to another VX-5 owner and he couldn't do it either. |
| Try Here this software is called eve and it was some of the best out there. Looks like it was dropped for some reason or another and the home site is gone but here is a link to the software and docs. |
