OK need help here. What I am looking for is a solar power source (portable) to keep batteries charged to run my Yaesu 857D.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

I don't know a whole lot about it, but I've seen this mentioned a few times in the SF before.

I use a Solaris 26 and like it. I have the 12v charging regulator too.

Are you in WNC?

Northern Tool in Asheville has some decent solar panels and charge controller that are usually in stock, I used to have one maintaining my 12v deep cycle along with a 110v charger that was on a timer as a backup.

If you hear W4WTF on any of the local repeaters, thats me.

You know you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one of the WTFs in the western Carolinas

My favorite solar power source is this:

As far as panels, the market has quite a few of them, and it's really a matter of finding one whose weight, output, durability, and bulk most suit you.

Some of the rollup dudes are pretty sophisticated, but they tend to be $$.

I went with a larger, hard, folding thing with smaller panels that was only $.

It's all tradeoffs, though.  No portable solution will do everything for nothing.
