If you plan on spending any time surf casting and really catch fish, dont skimp out with a cheap set up. You are using a decent rod, the reel is gonna make or break you here. Shimano Stradic FI is a good reel as is the Penn Slammer series. I have a 10' St Croix Mojo paired with a 460 Slammer and it throws very nice. Either of these will be fine with the edge going to the Shimano. But the Penn looks nicer IMO |
