I don't know if anyone else has listened to the samples provided, but I have to say I was NOT impressed; in fact, it really made me not want to listen to any more of it. If they're going to do it, I'd LOVE to see it done right. I'm not a huge audio book fan, but I have listened to my fair share. World War Z was done REALLY well, especially with all of the different voices from the stories themselves. You can have one reader do really well (which is what LO seems to be trying to do), but having an American swagger behind the "thoughts" of an Arab intent on destroying the infidels just really didn't sit right with me. I'd love to help in any way I can, but I'd like to hear anyone else's view on this....
Sample(s) of the audio book can be found here: http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/lights-out-the-audio-book |

Just gave a listen for about 20 seconds.
Just could not do it. With all due respect to Jack, he puts out a great podcast, but I don't think he's the best for audiobooks. I just keep expecting him to jump into some rant or something. A great audio book has alot of inflection and the reader makes all the difference. I am a huge audio book fan, but I'm holding out for a better read. |

I agree also. Spirko is a must hear for me everyday and I get pissy when he takes a day off... Lazy SOB! Dirt Time 09 my butt, bring us 7 Podcasts a week or just admit you're not that commited to our entertainment! Seriously, I'd have a hard time saying anything bad about Jack but "He ain't no audio book personality", I have listened to many of these books on tape and it has to be the right voice or it just doesn't work...

| You can buy the audio book several places online. I was considering it because I really just don’t have time to read books. It took me a good while to read Unintended Consequences and I still haven’t finished Patriots. I just don’t trust audio books any more. It’s so depended on the narrator. In college I listened to part of Huckleberry Finn on audio and nearly cut my wrists. |
