I know this isn't the normal zombie or TEOTWAWKI fare, but I kind of liked it. It's a story called Hunter penned by someone calling themselves Lazlo Zalelac, and I found it over at Storiesonline. It's basically about a guy and his part of bringing America back from the brink when the War on Terror comes home.

[Warning: StoriesOnline requires a login, and it has a bunch of different stuff that could be described as "pornographic literature."]

While you're there, if you haven't read Aftermath by Al Steiner, it's worth reading.

I'm assuming that registering doesn't expose you to any pornographic images? Just adult themed material?

No adult images that I've seen, but then again, I haven't gone through that many stories. I can pull the link if you think it's safer.

I think it'll be fine as is.

I've never seen any images there, but then I didn't browse the site. I just went there and searched for Aftermath(somebody posted about it on a message board). Then I downloaded each chapter of Aftermath and read them offline.

so is this a good story or what?  I know Aftermath was good.  Had some questionable issues but a good story if they were not there.  How is hunter.

Hunter is a decent read, MUCH tamer (you know what I mean) than Aftermath.  I had to quit reading aftermath.  I should be finishing reading Hunter today.

For anyone who's never been in the military(and many people who HAVE), Aftermath is a very good illustration of a defense-in-depth. If you didn't get any formal training in small-unit tactics, just reading that story should give you a pretty good idea of how that concept works. I spent 15 years in the Army, 2 of them working at the Infantry Officer Basic Course, and the defense used in that story looks like a textbook demonstration of how it's supposed to work.
