Im looking for a new hunting pack. This would be for day hunts. I tent camp from a car base and walk from camp and back every day. Im really looking at an eberlestock X1 X2 or the "just one" What I want this pack to do is have the room to carry every thing I need for a days hunting. Food, water bladder, clothing, scabbard for the rifle, and a first aid/survial pack. Then if I get somthing still have the room to pack out a boned out deer and the head.
Im open to other packs and reviews of the ones listed. Rusty |

I have the X2, and got one on the first runs in 2008. I like the pack. It has packed out parts of 3 elk (including my entire cow elk in 5 trips in 2010), lion hides, and usuallly has about 20 lbs of crap in it all the time. Your specs pretty well meat mine as far as how I hunt. I have not packed a deer out yet, but I do think it will handle the weight. The only limiting factor will be the user as far as weight is concerned, IMO.
I have ABUSED this pack. I am just hard on stuff, and gear gets no free ride around me. So far it is still holding up well. Later, Marcial |

If you bone the meat out?....
Yes... Get the bird bag as well. I can get all the tenderloins, backstrap, flank meat, and neck meat of an elk in the bird bag alone, which is about 60 ish lbs. I think that would be about the same as a normal sized deer. Later, Marcial |
| I just got the new model X2. It is an awesome pack. I had considered the X1 but I think the X2 is more versatile and better suited for hauling heavy balky loads. If you want a scabbard you will have to purchase it separately. I bought the Kifaru gun bearer for my pack and think it is a good system for carrying a rifle. |
