I spent yesterday morning cutting some cedar shakes to finished the eaves and was able to finished that before the heat set in…. Attached File Although, the slats I cut were a lot nicer than the fence boards it still finished up nicely. This morning I burnt and installed the rest of the siding on the watershed…. Attached File Attached File Overall all the final look turned out the better than I originally imagined. Attached File The doors and trim are the next steps and I might be able to get those down before the heat sets in too much…. If not there is always tomorrow. |

This morning I took it easy and milled some 2x4’s and finished the framing in the addition. Attached File Attached File I also burnt the last of the siding that goes up under the soffit above my mom’s addition…. Attached File Attached File Attached File As the sun clears that side of the roof I may go up this evening to finish that. Moving forward on the addition I will be running the electrical, finishing the insulation, and then doing the interior walls and ceiling. |

Yesterday I finished the siding under the soffit…. Wow….was it hot on the roof! Didn’t get any pics because I was just hurrying to finish. This morning I ran the electric for the outlets ….. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File The insulation is going up as well. I may even start on the siding today, but I haven’t decided yet. I have to upgrade the breaker box as well so I may do that instead….. too many tasks! |

Electrical upgrade completed, just short on insulation, and I was able to get one wall installed….. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File As far as the electric upgrade I added the four outlet circuits in the back room and then replaced my old 5 breaker panel with an 8 breaker panel… Attached File When I finished all that I went out and replaced the peacock valve on my KLR so that I can hopefully put it up for sale this week. I need to get funds for the oven. |

I find that if I 'leave room' for expansion then I usually expand, whether I need to or not. Sort of like storage. If I have too much storage then I tend to find ways to fill it.

I started on the red fir floor boards today….. After a quick sand and wipe down… Attached File I gave them a light burn… Attached File Then sanded again and applied the first coat of finish…. Attached File After they dried I use some steel wool on them and applied a second coat of finish…. Attached File Attached File Once all the board have two coats I will install them and then do at least two more coats. |

Those look awesome! How do you deal with the imperfections/holes in them? Do you fill them or leave them? If you fill them, how? I've been following along for a while but normally don't post here much. I've learned a ton just reading. Thanks for sharing! |

| Those floorboards look great. From the color they look to be Douglas fir? Love the smell of Douglas fir. I salvaged a couple 2x4s from my garage and that stuff one some true old growth Douglas fir. Growth rings so tight you'd need magnification to count them. I milled one of them and the whole garage had that spicy scent, the wood had a beautiful patina. |

That floor is beautiful. You are doing a great job. Idaho news: There are some fires in the mountains (pretty sure it's far from the OP) and it's driving the wildlife down into the high desert. This is from my mom's neighbor, East of Boise. Attached File |

Dumping pee outside makes sense but I can't think of a good way to get rid of poop besides burying or burning it. |

Yep… everything is separated… we dumped the liquids on the edge of our woods behind the cabin and then have a compost pile surrounded by pallets that we dump the sawdust/ solids in. For human waste they recommend two years but our chickens devastate it and spread it out whenever we dump. There is no smell or anything as long as the urine doesn’t mix with it. |
