I think that is black medic. Take a look at these pictures. Medic
2-4-D isn't very effective for black medic. Use trimec fairly early in the season. It's tough to kill without hurting the grass later in the season. |

Can I piggyback for a minute? http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj240/cucamelsmd15/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160706_102345663.jpg What are the flowers? I dont know what they are, but they need to die. They sprout tall, and are a real pain to cut with the mower. Ive only got them on the front 5 acres of the property too. somebody may know immediately, but if not...... Can you get down in there past the dandelion foliage and see the leaves of the plant those blooms are attached to? It looks like some kind of coreopsis species...but no way to know unless I see the foliage. Look at these images. You have to pay attention to details. It might not be this. Just because it's a yellow flower doesn't mean it's the same thing. It looks a little like Salsify, but I'd need to see a closer (clear) shot of the flowers and one of the foliage. salsify |

Heres the foilage. http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj240/cucamelsmd15/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160707_112521017.jpg Wider shot: http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj240/cucamelsmd15/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160707_112525639.jpg I am thinking this is sow thistle and some 2,4-D is the hot ticket to getting rid of it. Sow thistle fits. If that dandelion-like clump of broadleaf foliage is the base plant, I would not be able to argue. Make sure nothing else in your area is broadleaf that you want to keep. |

Long story short, my friend sprayed our lawn for a clover infestation we were having. Clover isn't a weed. It used to be added to lawn mixes. Now you know one of the reasons why. I don't understand what you're saying. Are you saying he should not have sprayed to get rid of the clover? It's not clover he has as a weed right now. So....are you saying the current weed is somehow a curse upon him for spraying for clover???? confused kitties is confused.
