Well, my mom and uncle got me into growing as many plants as I get the opportunity by rooting stuff in water.  I have successfully rooted and planted a pineapple top and now it seems to be growing fairly well, if a bit slowly perhaps.  So far it has lived a few months and appears to be doing well. I have it in a pot of potting soil and it's inside as an ornamental plant and looks really good.  Now what?  How often do I need to give it plant food?  How big will it grow?  Will it ever flower and fruit?  Any tips on care?

Keep it warm and give it lots of sun.
Pineapples make really nasty, sharp, prickly house plants.
Easy to get cut on them.
I had one going for over ten years and it never put up a fruit.

Pineapples in the north east, sounds about as crazy as the guy in TN with a banana tree in his yard

my grandma told me some tale about them that I cannot remember
I do know it takes either 1 year or 2 years of growing before they will bear fruit
hers is at least 4 years now and every other year grows a tiny pineapple
hard to keep bug from getting them here though

We grow pineapples every year. Just replant the tops and the side shoots and it's a plant that keeps on giving. The pics  are from November. 2 of the big ones have already been eaten and a third is in the kitchen now.  It takes about 18 months from planting to harvest but can vary a few months. Just keep planting a few every month and then you will have a constant supply. But if you live in PA then maybe not.

Wow that's really cool!  I'm hoping that some day my wife will want to move back down south where we belong.  Meanwhile I'm doing the best I can to grow as many goodies as possible.  I'll keep getting pineapples and try to grow more plants.

I have a pink one that produces. That last one pictured spreads from the base and has wicked wicked recurved  thorns, I had a big patch of it that I took out.

It was a bloodbath.
