| For some reason I have the biggest turnip crop I have ever had. I have taken 8 5 gallon buckets full out of it so far and that was just off of 1 edge. I preserve turnips in straw and they stay fresh until it starts getting warm but this year I am looking for something new. I have heard of TurnipKraut but haven't ever made the stuff. I have found a couple recipes by searching google but I was just wondering if any of you have ever made it or have some other way to can them. I would bet there are 100 5 gallon buckets of turnips in the garden and I hate to see stuff go to waste. |

farmers market? trade them for something else Farmers markets around here are only around from early spring to early October. I have been searching around and think I have found a recipe that I am going to try. Going to try a small batch at first to see if I even like it before I make a bunch though. |
| I don't have nothing to add to this thread other than to say the first buck I ever killed back on November 21, 1979 I was leaning against a tree eating a turnip I had just peeled. This thread brought back that memory since tomorrow is the first day of buck rifle season. The 21st will be a on a Wednesday this year also. |
