This is a fight you can win. Took me a year but I (and the whole town) can legally keep chickens now in residential areas.

I was looking into getting some chickens at my place as well, turns out they are prohibited under a "dangerous/vicious" animals ordinance

A few folks in my town are working on city council and the major to get it changed but if not I might just get a few next spring anyways. I imagine if nobody complains it won't be an issue and all my neighbors are for it, they want eggs...
