Didnt know where to post this, but do any of you have geese? I live in a small town but in a neighborhood with neighbors close by. I want to get only 2 geese but would like a calm and quieter breed. yes, I know they are geese and are gonna make some noise. I just dont want any that are constantly going nuts talking.Quiet and good temperment are the goals here. Any suggestions. No they arent for meat or eggs. Ornamental, pet use. Been to Backyardchickens.com already a ton searching info.

I have these two, I think one is Chinese and the other is African.

They are pretty cool just put out a kiddie pool and they will love it.

They live free range and sleep in the chicken house with my chickens  and Turkeys.

They are pretty noisey though.

Do you live close to you neighbors? I am thinking of getting American Buffs, supposed to have good, calm dispositions, Hopefully get more responses on here.

No I don't have any neighbors.

I live in a subdivision but there are people who go as far as having roosters and nobody cares. Actually alot of people around here have small backyard flocks and even though its out of city code nobody seems to mind. Turkeys fun?? Really??? How so? Would never of thought. African not as much, but Embden, and especially Chinese are known to be noisey. Just wanted to see if anybody has any experiance with any other breeds or live in a subdivison neighborhood setup and have birds.

not the african variety...
when dogs got into our flock and we had one lone african female leftover
she became buddies with the neighbors horse (cant make this stuff up)
she was about a 1/4 mile away and for years you could hear her out in the pasture
talking to that horse. IMO they are one of the loudest...

they all have their moments but I think the most common plain old variety of goose was the best.
we had a giant female that would hang around the back porch and chatter very lightly.
if she was honking then something was after her....
