I recently purchased a Victorio/Romfood strainer/sauce maker.  I read thru all of the directions, lubed the o-ring seal, assembled it, and was ready to start.  First thing I noticed during assembly was that the auger/spiral-to-screen  fit was SERIOUSLY tight at the waste end when together.  So, I started to gring apples.  Right off the bat, the "threads" of the spiral at the waste end began to shave off into the sauce coming from the apples.  I stopped, took it apart to inspect, and saw that where the threads were once 1/8" were almost flat, with a lot of plastic from the spiral laying flat against the spiral body.

Outside of that, and the fact that the auger wasnt picking up the apple slices very well even using the push stick, I really liked the finished product.  The apple sauce I made was awesome.  Then I ran some oranges thru it that were a little too ripe for the family's liking, and made fresh squeezed OJ.  That was Really good.  Anyway, my point: has anyone that owns one of these experienced anything like what I described?

Did you make sure and place the gasket between the strainer and body?

Yup.  I ended up calling the mfr., and they said that it was not normal.  The rep seemed to think that the spiral and the screen were made incorrect.  They are sending us a replacement spiral and screen at no charge.  Hopefully that will solve it.  I so want for this thing to work.  I read an older thread about these type of food strainers and sparked my interest.  We put up a lot of tomato juice/sauce from the garden every year, and the way we have been doing it sucks.  My hope is that this device will save us some time by eliminating some seemingly un-needed steps, and not have to handle boiling hot tomatoes 2x!

That would be my thought too.

Your strainer will definitely save you time once you get it up and running.

I can't thank Feral enough for the thread he did where he featured that strainer. One caveat, if you are going to strain grapes get the grape spiral. Don't ask how I figured that out...........
