[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Rice storage

I want to store calrose rice(asian sticky rice) in mylar bags and 5 gallon buckets. Wil this type of rice have the same storage life as regular long grain white rice?

I use Basmati, Jasmine and Calrose rice for long term storage. You should be able to find these at local grocery stores, Costco, Sams, or even WalMart.

actually, basmati has went down from approx. $15 to $12 in my local sam's, in the last week or so. i got another 15#s in the little burlap bag, and put it in my freezer for a few weeks. i'm hoping that will kill any bugs or eggs, i wil lthen repackage in smaller amounts.

I have a supply already. Just wondering if the shelf life is similar to regular white rice?

It's a white rice so it should store as well as any other white variety.
