I want to set a friend of mine up with some Chocolate Pudding for long term storage as a Christmas gift.

This guy is squared away gardens, preps , stores food etc and is physically fit.

But i know he likes chocolate pudding every once in a while so i want to hook him up with something i know he would enjoy plus get a kick out of.

The honeyville stuff says a 5~10 yr shelf life...... just wondering if anything is better or is this the limit on pudding.

If you have better suggestions etc i would greatly appreciate it.

Ok, I have reached the end of the Internet.

I would treat it like any other powder for storage. Either vac-seal or maybe try mylar bags with O2 absorber?

Now for a neat little treat I wonder if a guy could premix pudding powder with the right amount of powdered milk to make a "just add water" pudding. That would be kind of neat, and I would think finding unspoiled milk in a SHTF event would be near impossible.

Might be something to experiment with. Making a batch of pudding using pudding powder and powdered milk and just adding water. Thinking out loud here......

i bought some ''comstock'' brand chocolate pie filling, which is basically chocolate pudding. the cans of the stuff [16 oz cans]     were only a dollar, and labeled to use by mid 2013, best i recollect. i also got some cherry and apple pie filling, all of which would make a good treat, if push came to shove.
