The new bees should be arriving shortly and I'm making sure I have things ready for them.
Do I need to paint the pine frames inside?
I should know this, maybe, but can't find the answer anywhere.

No, leave the inside with just plain old wood, probably pine.

IMHO you should never paint the inside of the hive. But I guess it's too late for that now...
