Please help me, my Aunt makes a dressing that my wife absolutely loves. She won't come off with the recipe, maybe for fear we won't come for Thanksgiving.
Well, we don't want to come for Thanksgiving. Nothing against my family but they are way over-bearing, as are my wifes kin. This year looks like we've gotten the opportunity to have dinner just the wife, kids and myself and we're jumping at the chance. Problem is my wife still wants the dressing and I don't know how to fix it. It's a moist dressing made separately from the bird. It comes out of the oven like a cake, almost make you think of bread pudding. Anyone know what I'm talking about? |

Sorry bout that, I do most of the cooking at home, when I'm home. The dressing has the consistency of bread pudding, at least the way I know bread pudding.
I know that's not helpfull at all. Se uses celery and onion, I know that, and cooks it in a caserole dish. As far as other ingredients I don't know. Reading what I've written, seems like I'm wasting our time here. Maybe I should just try it on my own. |

it may well be a custard based dressing, you ddint say if it was white or corn bread, doesnt matter, make it as you would bread pudding, making it a savory rather than a sweet,
diced onions, celery, parsley, bell pepper if preferred and or meats as preferred, sausage, cooked bacon, hard boiled eggs, poached oysters etc, or add pecans, walnuts peanuts etc.. crush stale bread, blend in saute veggies/meat/nut compound with some sage and or poultry seasoning, blend in with bread crumble, add egg custard mix found in my quiche thread in the index (using the ratio of 6 eggs whipped into a quart of milk or 1/2 and 1/2 divide by need with 6 shots of tabasco and a bit of salt) , pour egg mix over stuffing mixture, allow to soak a few minutes and bake at 350..until firm in the center..
