I am looking for an old link that was posted here about a year ago. It dealt with the "lost art" of homemaking and country living from American women in past generations. I remember alot of it as depression era and before. Anyone remember this one or something similar? It was really good stuff.

Thanks!

Amazing resource. Just about too much to go through.  I'll post a list of the ones I cherry picked as having particular potential...

I was intent on various methods of meat preservation when I made my selections. They call them "cook books" but they're so much more. They're one stop life manuals for living in the 1800's.

Buckeye Cookery and Practical Housekeeping, 1877 -

The Blue Grass Cookbook - http://digital.lib.msu.edu/projects/cookbooks/html/books/book_57.cfm

This one is from 1831... Very neat. Incredibly long title. Let's call it Not Mad for short - http://digital.lib.msu.edu/projects/cookbooks/html/books/book_07.cfm

Complete Cook, 1864 - http://digital.lib.msu.edu/projects/cookbooks/html/books/book_23b.cfm

Dr. Chase's Recipes, 1864 - This is like a great big book of everything - http://digital.lib.msu.edu/projects/cookbooks/html/books/book_22.cfm

Thanks so much, NoStock!

I really appreciate it. I have been on a homemaking-type kick for a few weeks. I'll start reading right now.
